Requiring at least one number/symbol/whatever per password increases security.

There are 208,827,064,576 passwords 8 characters long, consisting only of lower case letters.

There are 642,544,814,080 passwords 8 characters long, consisting of 7 lower case letters and one number.

(That’s 208 billion vs. 642 billion).

It is easier to brute force when you have set limits, but even in the case of any character being allowed, the overwhelming majority of passwords will still only be alphanumeric. By forcing people to use a symbol in their passwords, you are increasing the range of characters that will be in the typical person’s password. So in almost all cases, it will be harder to brute force.

Just my 2 cents.

Of course, that is totally valid. But I think what I’m trying to expose here is that even when you do set something as private, it’s not. And I think that’s a serious flaw in facebook’s photo sharing system.

It all comes down to this: If you don’t want something to get out to anyone (even just a select few people), DON’T POST IT! PERIOD. Facebook, with all its privacy settings, still can’t protect you from everything… Just a matter of habits, being careful.. that’s all.

Hey Darryl,

I strongly feel that it goes as something like this: I have an IPhone which I often connect to free wireless hotspots on the go since I don’t have a data plan. Most of the time i need the connection to go to google maps and when i do, it auto locates my position (based on the info the built in GPS gives it)
Obviously Google collects this data and can use it for the wireless triangular calculations or even a method as simple as “ip x.x.x.x is at location xx.xx by xx.xx” so he might be somewhere around there.

Would be nice tho if you actually did some research and found anything more accurate to share it

PS. by the way we’ve worked on a project together, can u remember by my email address

You shouldn’t be in the ’server’ directory, you should just be in /usr/src/php-java-bridge-5.2.0

Hi ,
i followed ur steps mentioned but when i configure i get the following error and i tried almost everything in vain….this is driving me crazy… can you help me tell what the problem is?
